Manifesting and Creating

Antioxidants

This blog is not intended as just another Woo Woo, just say it and it will happen, article on manifestation and visualization. As a matter of fact, I really dislike the term manifestation because it has been overused.

Having said that, it was visualization that has helped me create the life I love. It has helped with cars, my home and even in weight loss. I guess you could say that I manifested the things I want.

One thing that people that have learned how to manifest fail to tell you is that nothing, no matter how much you want it comes without challenges. When you get what you want you still have to take care of it.

Many people have looked at visualization and manifestation as a shortcut to getting what they want. This is untrue. It still takes a lot of time and effort on your part. It is just time and effort spent in a different way.

Visualization

As a hypnotherapist I use visualization all the time. It is a powerful way to make an impact in peoples lives. I like to use the term imagination and imagine rather than visualization or visualize. Again, the word has been overused.

I am currently reading an amazing book by one of my favourite authors Anodea Judith and Lion Goodman called Creating on Purpose. It makes me reflect on how I have created things in my life.

Visualization is not some secret sort of magic. It has a very clear purpose. Visualizing or imagining allows you to see possibilities where you didn’t see them before.

Think of all the stories of people raised in poverty or abuse or whatever circumstances. They then go on to become famous, role models, rich, whatever. They were living in a specific set of circumstances but instead of focusing on those circumstances, they dreamed of another way. They dreamed of a different life. It was this dreaming or imagining that allowed them to see another path than the one they were on.

This process is not about having a fairy godmother or godfather. It is about hard work. It is about spending every spare moment that you can enhancing the dream. The hardest part is staying focused on the dream until it happens which is almost never immediately.

The dreaming or imagining is pretty much never about how to get there. It is always about what there is.
What does it look like, feel like, taste like, smell like?

Once the dream takes hold the objections begin. Internally and externally you begin to encounter obstacles.
When I was buying my home I had a single income and came from a family where women needed to be married to own a home. I would be the first single woman to buy my own home.

My best friend at the time was encouraging me and since she had a sixth sense about real estate I trusted her. I had been using techniques I learned reading Creative Visualization so I imagined what I wanted and how much I wanted to pay. When I told my friend what I wanted and for how much she told me I was crazy. I would never get all that for what I wanted to pay.

My home came to me for almost exactly what I wanted to pay and had more features than I had originally wanted. She was stunned.

I had held to my vision regardless of the internal voice saying it couldn’t be done and the external voice saying it couldn’t be done. I just did it. I did it by spending every possible moment I could, picturing what my home would look like and the things I would do there.

Ultimately what I am saying folks is that you can create the life you want as long as you are willing to put in the effort. Think about it on your breaks at work, imagine it on your drive to and from work (but make sure you still pay attention to traffic). If you put in the effort to imagine what you want, clear the internal and external obstacles and hold to your dream even when it seems like there is no way it will come, then you will succeed. You will achieve the dream or something very much like it but remember, getting what you want will still have challenges after it is created.
